Abstinence-only Education with an Exposition of Unification Church" (co-authored by
Wan Yanhai and ErYan).
Seminar location: Beijing

The Unification Church started to infiltrate China from early 1990s on. For nearly a
decade, the church tried to interfere with the public health policy by promoting
abstinence-only education. The drop in AIDS infection rate in the US, which largely
results from the promotion of safe sex, was also attributed to the abstinence-only
education advocated by the Unification Church. The church also reported to the Chinese
media that the failure rate of condom is 30% and safe sex was not effective in fighting
against AIDS.

"Fallen Shephard", sponsored by Ford Foundation and co-authored by Wan Yanhai and
ErYan, gives a detailed report on the effectiveness of safe-sex education and abstince-
only education by citing cases and statistics from various research conducted in the US in
the past 15 years. A history of the Unification Church is also included.
